Umlaut is a global network of highly individual artists who together form a strong organization around the independent label Umlaut Records. Launched in 2004 by Swedish Bass player Joel Grip, it is now based on three collectives in Sweden, France and Germany, working independently on the amplification of the creative progress around us. Apart from the label activity, Umlaut has put together Festivals in Paris, Berlin and Dala Floda, Sweden as well as concert series in Paris and Berlin. Umlaut is run by Joel Grip, Niklas Barnö (Sweden), Eve Risser, Antonin Gerbal, Pierre-Antoine Badaroux, Joris Rühl, Sebastien Beliah (France), Florian Bergmann, Pierre Borel, Hannes Lingens (Germany). Artists include Derek Shirley, Christof Kurzmann, Sven-Åke Johannsson & Per-Henrik Wallin, Raymond Strid, Yuko Oshima.
